Use macros with the Logitech g19 G keys

Presented in January, the Logitech G 19 Keyboard’s chief virtue is the inclusion of a small 2-inch LCD screen, which shows various information such as their ancestors, the G15, but now with more color and resolution of 320 × 240 pixels .

The Logitech g 19 keyboard is aimed at an audience made almost exclusively by the gamer market. Besides the screen, its other strengths are the G keys, located on the left and which set up macros that allow quick access, ideal for video games in which,  for example,  we can perform several simultaneous actions with the push of a single button .

This keyboard  includes the Logitech G19 multimedia buttons,  volume control on the keyboard (while in other Logitech keyboards there are two buttons, on the G19 it is a kind of rotating cylinder),  a pair of USB ports on the rear and a switch that enables and disables the Windows key

.

The operation of the Logitech G19 is based, as most high-end devices from Logitech, in a specific software. While in mice requires SetPoint (here we analyze the Logitech G9 it used), keyboards require a configurator macro keys, which are published all the special actions. Installation is clean and the program is fairly simple to use.

A curious fact is the light of the Logitech G19. While the G15 had two levels of brightness, the G19 is only switched on and off.  On the other hand it gives the opportunity to choose the color of the LEDs,  allowing almost any possibility.  It is set in the ‘Profile Key Logitech G-Series’ with a simple click of the mouse.

Some of the functionality  the Logitech G19’s display provides  is the display of videos from Youtube,  an RSS feed reader,  monitor equipment performance and  more.  Best of all, new features can be downloaded.

A rather curious thing is the ability to watch videos from Youtube in the screen itself.  We can choose a set of feeds (usually lists of the most viewed or most popular, for example) and select a video that plays on the small screen and delivers the sound through your computer speakers.  It looks pretty good and fluent, but obviously very small.

The viewer has very interesting information, like the  CPU usage and memory.  It is very simple, but we will know with a glance the performance of your computer.  The list of compatible games is quite large.

The Logitech G15 Keyboard for gaming is one of the best options for the most demanding gamers, with 18 multimedia keys and programmable keys, called macros.

logitech-g15-v2-05tbThe keys are made of a plastic material in an opaque black color, with the letters carved in it so that the backlight is visible.  The metalic button on top of the F4 key is used to disable the special role of the “Windows” key so you can use it in other games like one more button.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of this keyboard is the top screen, which shows us the information we have set, next to it are the keys and multimedia keys programming of the information displayed. The integration of the screen makes it impossible to leave it hidden, so will always be visible providing our hours at the computer. The black and gray color of the structure along with the orange of the keys makes the G15 keyboard so striking in broad daylight and in darkness.

logitech-g15-v2-13tbThe Logitech G15 Keyboard illumination is dim, although it has three levels of intensity, yet it is totally visible to use the keyboard in the dark, so you will not be bothered when there is a total absence of light. The keys are displayed perfectly, with no shadows or dark edges when using the keyboard illumination. Illuminates only the letter or symbol in itself, without allowing light to see anything below

logitech-g15-v2-16tbThe use of the processor and RAM is shown in two different ways at once, with a bar that slides under the load, and the percentage used. All this is configurable through the application and the function keys of the display. There are many plugins to display on the display, including integration with programs of music playback and multimedia content. If the predefined macros are not enough, we have software available for editing, creating your own combinations or changing existing ones, thus customizing even more the  Logitech G15 Keyboard.

The g19 keyboard has two USB ports

Technology, especially when it is related to computers, is moving at top speed.

The latest announcment from Logitech is the G19 keyboard, a keyboard with a built-in screen of LCD and a display of 320 by 240 pixels resolution. Moreover, this display can operate independently of the computer. You can be working with Word on your PC and in the meantime watch Youtube videos from the screen keyboard.

This may well be because the keyboard is a miniature computer that works with Linux. In this way we can have two independent functions each one on a screen.

The Logitech G19 keyboard has two USB ports that allow connection of a mouse and the microphone or speakers connected to your computer.

The design as shown in the picture is simply spectacular, it almost seems that we control a small spacecraft or a small plane.

i currently have the G11 by logitech and want to upgrade, should i stay with logitech, or i was considering the g19 or my switching companies and considering Saitek PZ30AU Black USB Standard Eclipse Keyboard but i dunno.. help me out please

Let me start off with the basics I look in a keyboard.

1. Great build and not too cheaply made
2. Great tactile reponse + antighosting/ multiple button pressing
3. QUICK response when a key is pressed
4. LED lighting is not necessary but would be a PLUS++++

Games?

I MAINLY PLAY FPS GAMES (mostly counterstrike 1.6 and others like l4d2 etc.)

So I have been doing so research trying to search for the perfect keyboard for gaming. I have run across several keyboards people suggest as the one of the best keyboards on the market. I don’t want to throw out to much cash for a keyboard. Keyboards like g19 and steelseries 6g/7g are overpriced. Alternatives I have found for those are keyboards such as G15, Razer lycosa/arctosa, and a keyboard not too many people use is the Abs M1 mechanical keyboard. Currently the cheapest prices I can find on these keyboards are. G15 = 70$, Abs M1 = 50$, Razer Arctosa = 45$, Razer Lycosa = 70+$

My analysis on these keyboards are the following:

Logitech G15: I heard this is one of the top gaming keyboards on the market and allow many different settings and fancy mumbo jumbo. My opinion is that since I play mainly FPS, I wouldn’t need the LCD screen and the micro keys on the sides to toggle between keystroke settings. Yet it is quite cheap I would still consider it. Another CON is that with the extra keys I heard it is quite large.

Razer Lycosa/Arctosa: Razer is a really popular brand for gaming supplies. I have heard many great reviews for these keyboards. Lycosa has back lighting and they both support antighosting and have great response. One big flaw with the Lycosa is that it is quite overpriced. For both of these keyboards a BIG negative is that many people complained about the cheap quality of the material used to make these products.

Abs M1: A keyboard many people don’t use or consider using. I have recently come upon it while scavenging newegg.com. It has similiar features including the looks, to the overpriced steelseries 7g. Pros for this keyboard is that I have heard mechanical keyboards have great tactile response. This also features antighosting too. What I really like about this keyboard is that it is heavy duty. This thing weighs almost four pounds!! and the cord is braided to make sure this keyboard stays intact. Another pro is that it is a really simple keyboard so it shouldn’t take up to much room on my desk. This keyboard is also onsale 20$ off from the orginal price of 70$. A con for this keyboard is that many people say the antighosting isn’t great and many of the keys don’t respond and had to get it replaced. (mainly for the newest models)

SO WHICH KEYBOARD YOU THINK IS BEST?

I am mainly leaning towards the Abs M1 because of its similarity to the Steelseries 7G, your answers could possibly change my mind :)

I am new to the gaming and recently learnt that you can use macros to automate many tasks inside the game. I tried the AutoHotKey program and the it is unable to send the required keystrokes to the game even though it works perfectly well in other applications.

So my questions is if I buy a gaming keyboard say Logitech G19 would I face the same problem with its programmable keys.
Apparently this has something to do with some games accepting DirectInput. Could someone please explain what this is and would a gaming keyboard help in this situation.
